01

Purpose

Recording station melodies was the main goal, but local food and time around each station were included so the trip was not only about collecting sound.

02

Budget as a design constraint

Discounts and route changes were used to reduce the burden of Shinkansen travel without lowering the value of the fieldwork.

03

Result

Sounds were recorded at three stations, and the practical lessons about announcements and platform conditions informed later trips.
