TRAVEL PLAN · BEFORE THE TRIP

A journey for
“Hanamizuki”.

An approach melody I want to hear, and the choices that make the journey possible. This is the plan for 20–21 October 2026, before any recording results.

A personal journey, before the trip. This proposal was prepared using AI.

01

Hear it in person, then leave a record

I want to hear “Hanamizuki,” the melody played as a train approaches on the Nanao Line, in the atmosphere of the station itself. The plan connects that experience to audio, station footage and later sharing. Around five satisfactory audio recordings is a target, not a result.

02

Seven chances on the first day, four the next morning

The normal plan stays at Unoke for 151 minutes on 20 October, with seven recording opportunities. Four more are planned on the morning of 21 October, bringing the total to 11 opportunities. The morning is part of the normal plan, not a spare day. Times in the document are scheduled train arrivals, not the exact moment the melody starts; the train I arrive on at 15:55 is excluded.

03

Choosing the balance, not the highest score

Five first-day opportunities would cost the same as seven. Moving from five to seven adds 36 minutes at the station and delays the return by 31 minutes. Twelve offers more chances, but adds another 104 minutes at the station and 105 minutes before returning. I chose seven to balance cost, opportunities and the strain of waiting. The appendix compares eight routes using a 70-point planning score; sound quality and adaptability are still unmeasured and unscored.

04

Decide where to record after hearing the station

At Unoke, the 16:03 and 16:46 arrivals are chances to check equipment and surrounding sound. If conditions are difficult, Plan B moves to Hakui; if Hakui is also unsuitable, Plan C changes the environment to Kanemaru. Announcements, conversations, ventilation, weather and other trains may affect the recording. Local travel uses ordinary trains; limited express trains are recording targets only.

05

A planned budget, with its boundaries visible

The normal two-day budget is ¥18,989: ¥14,400 for the Shinkansen round trip, ¥2,789 for one night and ¥1,800 for local rail. Food and travel between home and Tokyo Station are extra. The document’s roughly 44% comparison uses rail plus hotel only: ¥17,189 against one JTB listing from ¥30,900, viewed on 16 October. Dates, hotels and room conditions differ. It is not an average market price or a discount on the whole trip.
